What are the course routes?

The courses are a gentle downhill, about 80’ per mile along hard packed gravel. You will run through beautiful forested trails and along scenic river paths. Detailed maps are available on our website.

What shoes do I wear?
We suggest road shoes for the hard packed gravel course. Trail shoes tend to be a bit rigid and unnecessary. Racers tend to get shredded from the gravel. While it is a trail, the course is not technical. Gators might be helpful if you shuffle and kick up rocks.

Do I need a headlamp and will I get it back?
YES. Marathon runners will need a headlamp or small flashlight for the 2.4 mile tunnel. There is a drop bucket after the tunnel exit to toss in, we will transport to the finish line. We will have a way for you to mark you headlamp at the start line unless you have already done so. We will not mail your light back to you if you do not pick it up at the finish.

Are dogs allowed?

No. Per USATF rules, dogs are not allowed in the Jack & Jill's Downhill Marathon.

Are strollers allowed?

No, this course is not ideal for strollers due to a 2.4 mile dark tunnel and hard packed gravel along an open course.

Are headphones allowed?

Yes, but please use only a single earbud at a low volume to remain aware of your surroundings.

Is there a bus shuttle to the full marathon start?
NO, there is ample parking at the start area.
